Blast from the Past Event

Last night I completed the quest where you have to view historical art.  I received a notification that at the end said that I received a shard in my SIMS inventory.  Now I have to ask an elder about the shard.  So I found an elder to speak to, but the option to talk about the shard never came up.  That's when I looked in my SIMS inventory and even the household inventory to see the shard, BUT it was NOT there.  I though maybe it was a glitch so I logged out last night and just logged back in a few minutes ago and NOPE no shard....help please!!!
