Blue Screen of Death

Hi,  after this last update, I'll play for maybe 1/2 hrs and my computer shuts down and I get the blue screen.  It says  Your system has encountered a serious error.  I let it reboot and it will happen when I'm in CAS. I've deleted the game from my system and reloaded the game.  It still happens. My system is only 1 year old and my specs are higher then needed. Help please.

Thank you. I'm going to tackle this over the weekend.  I'll let you know how it goes.

  • tap04950  Yes, I see the dxdiag; I just missed you yesterday by an hour or so.  The two Sims 4 crashes in your dxdiag point to the Nvidia graphics driver, so please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver, as described here:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

You can get the newest driver here:

    https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/

If that doesn't help, is your GPU overclocked?  If so, please revert to stock speeds and try again.  If that doesn't help either, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Click Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

I'll take any Sims 4-related crashes from after you reinstall the driver and, if relevant, revert the GPU to stock speeds.

Are you able to see the Dxdiag i attached below?

  • tap04950  Please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
