Build Mode Issues Since Update

Okay. Since the latest update my build mode has been difficult.  I have repaired the game.  Cleared the cache and cleared my mods (multiple times) now everything in build mode is working normally except.  I cannot modify add delete change anything above the third floor. If I try to do so it becomes impossible to modify anything on the screen from that point on. (Nothing will show up)  After this the game will not allow me to save and just gets stuck on the plumbob load when I try and I end up having to control alt delete close the game and have lost all build progress.  I'm losing my mind I hope someone can help me get this figured out. Thanks

  • UtilityofForce  Copy your save to the new Sims 4 folder, but nothing else yet, and test a few different lots.  Start with one you've never built on before and go from there.

If some lots work but others don't, please let me know whether you notice a pattern.  For example, maybe the ones that don't are those for which you started with a Gallery download, or they're older builds of yours that you've saved, or they have foundations or basements or platforms.

It is letting me build above third floor. Man I don't know whether to be happy or annoyed with myself now haha. What's the next step to see how to fix this in my main sims 4 file?

  • UtilityofForce  Please try building in a new save in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)

Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and build something yourself in one of the base game worlds.  Don't download a lot from the Gallery.  You don't need to spend that much time on it, just enough to see whether the problem recurs.

If you do have any build issues in the clean folder, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Please also let me know whether your user folder is inside OneDrive.  You can right-click it (the old one you move, or the new one the game creates) and select Properties > General, then check the Location.  Or you can see the location in-game:

Multiple lots . Completely different builds as well. I didn't mention it before but my game never likes the saving portion.  I have to click save.  Then I have to separately (after saving) click exit game.  If I click save and exit it always freezes and requires ctrl apt del

  • UtilityofForce  Does this happen on all lots, or just this one?  If only this one, you can try saving it and placing it on another lot in the same save, or in a new save, to see whether the problem is the build itself or something else.
