Cabinets and Counters Causing Crashes

I don't know if anyone else is running into this issue or if it's just me but since having downloaded and played TS4 for the first time in a few years, my game completely freezes up and crashes whenever I go to place kitchen cabinets. The same thing was happening at first with kitchen counters but after 7 crashes in a row it seemed to have corrected itself but I do worry that they're a ticking time bomb and will return to crashing my game. My main issue is with the cabinets. Anytime I click on the icon for a cabinet, any time I hover over to change the colour or the cabinet type my game instantly crashes. I've tried all that I know how to do: deleted saves I don't really play, removed my mods folder, lower my game settings and still the sight of a cabinet causes my game to spontaneously keel over and crash. Help me sims team, you're my only hope.
