Ok here's what I did. Save your game and exit out to the main menu. Go back into your game and select the household you wish to play. Instead of clicking play, there are 3 dots that brings up another menu. Click on that to edit your family. You can then select the child and you can edit their name there. I hope I made sense. I found a YouTube video that walked me through it
