Can't control my sims in live mode

I can click and move objects in build mode and I can click on the various "buttons" that can tell you about your sim (ie. the aspirations, career and skill information).

But in live mode, I have no option to control any of my sims. I try and click on the bed, and it doesn't give me an option to have my sim sleep, nap, etc. When I try to make my sim talk to somebody, all it does is show their name.

Whenever I try and click on something in live mode, all I see is the pointer arrow with a little "cog" next to it. When I'm not trying to click on something, it shows the pointer arrow with the feet next to it.

I would attach pictures to show the problem if I could, but screenshots won't show the mouse (and my phone camera sucks, so I won't put you all through that torture).

Does anybody have an idea of what could be wrong, and what I should do as far as (attempting to) fix it?

  • It's a known issue. I was hoping the screen resolution would solve it.

Can you try setting your windows text size to 120%

  • Does your ingame screen resolution match your Windows screen resolution ?

No, it is not. My laptop's resolution is 1366x768 and the game's resolution is 1360x705. If there is a way to make them the same, I am not sure.
I haven't picked up the Sims 4 in a long time (since April or May), but I remember it working correctly then. After updating and starting the game, I was able to create a few sims, and when I wanted them to do something, it wouldn't work.

Click on the three dots in the upper right corner and go to the graphics tab.

There you should be able to change that.

I've managed to make them the same, and the same issue still occurs. When I try and click on something, it shows no option to interact.

It's  not the best quality photo, but I managed to take a picture of what it looks like when I attempt to interact.

I did that, and I'm not sure how or why, but it ended up working! Thank you so much for helping my inept self 🙂

I have no clue why it works either but it seems to help most people with your issue.

    Thanks for the feedback
