Cant figure what goes into my mod folder and what doesn’t.

I had many mods and package files for my game. Couldn’t seem to figure what goes in what folder. Now none of my saved data is in the game neither are any of my mods. HELP PLEASE. My mods was also not right lol.

  • @JoJoVanilla1211 Hi!  The Mod / CC files you download should have either .package or .ts4script file extensions.  Those go directly into the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 / Mods folder.  There is also a Resource.cfg file that is automatically generated when the game starts, so if you see that just leave it in there. If you want, you can create folders to better organize these files, just make sure you only have one folder for each category; ex. if you have MCCC, you can make a folder labeled MCCC and put all the modules in one folder; if you have a bunch of living room cc, you could make a living room folder; etc.

Once you load a game, you also have to enable Mods / CC in the game settings (click the three dot game menu, select game options, select other, check the box to enable CC / Mods, and if you have script files check script mods allowed).  If you do have to enable mods / cc you will get a prompt to exit and restart.  If you have mods in the folder and enabled in the game, you should get a list of them when you open the game again.

I don't quite understand what you mean about your saved data not being in the game.  Have you saved a game but you're not able to load it?

  • @JoJoVanilla1211  Mods and custom content go into the Mods folder, but the files need to be unzipped and in .package or .ts4script form.  Saves go in the saves folder.

Since I'm not sure what the current state of your user folder is, please start the game and create a new save.  (No need to spend much time on it; this is just for testing.)  Save your progress, go back to the Main Menu, press Load Game, and hover over the folder icon under the other info for that save.  You'll see the file path to the save; please copy it down and write it out here.  You can write [username] instead of your actual username, but please don't change anything else.

Next, please open the folder that contains your mods and custom content, and list the file path to that folder.  Do the same for your saves, if you know where they are.
