Can't get Sims 4 to update

Since the beginning of May, (or whenever the latest update has come out) I have not been able to update my game via EA app. Originally it would pop up with an error after hitting 4%. Now it keeps saying that my file folder doesn't exist and to double check and try again. I use an external hard drive to house my sims 4 game files and have never had an issue with that not being adequate. I've tried restarting the app, restarting my computer, updating the app, updating the computer, repairing the sims 4 files... nothing seems to be working.

  • WorththeW8  The folder doesn't exist message is typically related to an overly protective antivirus.  So if you use a third-party program, please set an exception for EADesktop.exe and try again.

Please also make sure that the external drive is plugged in and recognized by Windows, and that it has the same letter assigned (D, E, whatever) as it did when you first installed Sims 4 there.  If you're not sure what letter it should have, check the install location in the EA App, under Sims 4 > Manage > View properties.
