Can't launch the sims 4 anymore

When i try to launch the game i keep getting a message that the file isn't found. I need to repair the game and when i do it keeps telling me there is a permission error.

I've already emptied the cache, uninstalled and re-installed, repaired the game numerous times and nothing seems to stick! Sometimes the game will start and i can play it with no problems and when i close the game, shut down my laptop and try to launch the game a few hours later it suddenly doesn't work anymore...

I don't use any mods or cc!!

  • mirrie85  These sound like antivirus issues, so please set exceptions in your AV for TS4_x64, TS4_DX9_x64, and TS4_Launcher_x64; or the entire Bin folder they're in.  Set an exception for EADesktop.exe as well.  Then repair the game again and let me know what happens.

There's nothing obvious in your dxdiag, although there are a few errors that might need to be addressed.  But that's typical for antivirus issues, which don't usually produce an error.

Thanks for your reply!! I keep getting the notification of a permissions error while repairing. I've already put the entire bin folder in exceptions. I'm not really sure what to do next..

  • I got a similar message today, preventing me from starting my game that ran perfectly last night. It said I have no license and then I found there is a patch - not sure if it is old but it's only a couple weeks since I patched. Hoping it works after downloading the update, but it IS a bit worrying that a game I paid "trillions" for, is suddenly claiming that I have no license... I really miss the offline gaming era.

  • same thing happen to me since the recent update.  I emptied the mods folder and re-tried still same thing happened. so sick and tire of this.
