No idea what's the problem, but I'd check if there is enough harddrive space, and then remove the mods folder temporarily. There were warnings that the recent patch could be tough on mods, if you have any. Also, reboot your computer and try again. Repair game in EA-app if it allows you to do so.

ArthurShadows60 As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. If it copies instead of moving, or you get an error when trying to move it, stop here and let me know.
Otherwise, when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content. (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.) Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs, that is if you can get that far.
If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag. Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

ArthurShadows60 As I said, I need the entire dxdiag saved as a text file, not a few screenshots.
You also didn't answer about the clean folder, so please let me know how that went.

how do you get dxdiag saved as a text file
ArthurShadows60 Your screenshot shows A Sims 4 folder with only the saves and Tray folders inside. But a) I don't know whether that's the correct folder, and in fact it definitely is not if you loaded the game and still only saw saves and Tray (more folders would have been created; and b) a folder with saves and Tray already in it is not clean, by definition.
For the dxdiag, click the Save All Information button in the lower-right corner of the window.
