Continuous loading

LovelyGelina​  Sometimes there's something stuck in one household that can resolve by playing another for a while.  So it's possible that this is fixed.  But I'd keep backups anyway.

If you get the same endless loading again, look for a new lastexception in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.  I'd only want a fresh one, so it would be best to delete any you have now.  If you get a new one, open the file, copy the text, and paste it into a reply here.

So, unfortunately, the only thing that works is running a clean folder.  I can't play any of my saved games for some reason because when I tried to manually add just the most recent save file to the clean folders saves, it wouldn't let me play. But when I didn't load in any of my saves, I was able to play with the fresh new folder and the random sim I got off of the gallery just fine. Must be something in my saves? I feel like once I loaded this one house into my game, it caused issues but I'm not sure if that's a thing. Other households seem to work but not the one that lives in that house. I might go delete it and see if that helps - idk, I'm just desperate at this point. It's been almost 2 months since my game has been like this... I don't feel safe entering or leaving CAS or a household in case it just keeps loading and I have to end task. 

I'm confused and this is depressing.

Update: So, I have no idea how or why this happened but I was able to get in and play my game. It's the saves I added to the clean folder. I started off trying a different household from the one I've been trying to play this whole time, and the household loaded. I played that for about 2mins and then tried a different one - that one worked too! So then, I went to the household I really wanted to play and it loaded in! I didn't do anything different besides loading a different household other than the one I've been trying to resume from this whole time. I was wondering if it was the household or the house maybe but I don't know. I quit the game to add my mods back and am going to try and see if it works still but I won't load into the household I want first, just in case that was the issue. Once I feel comfortable enough to try to load in with the one I've been trying to this whole time, I'll see if I run into the continuous loading again (if any of this makes sense lol).

LovelyGelina​  Try a clean folder again, just because it's simple and might happen to work.

If that doesn't help, try playing in a new admin Windows account.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address.  You'll be able to (try to) play without reinstalling anything.  Local means no connection to OneDrive.

I found that the Sims generally isn't agreeable with OneDrive. Assuming you have The Sims installed onto your OneDrive, I'd suggest moving your saves folder to your desktop, uninstalling the game and reinstalling on your local machine (IE, not on OneDrive), then moving your saves folder under the new Sims folder. I did this, and a lot of my issueswere  resolved.

Manually back-up your saves as often as you'd like, I do it once a month or so by just copying my saves folder onto a folder on my desktop. 

Well now my game won't load at all after I press Start from the main menu. It's back to continuous loading. I turned off One-Drive and that seemed to fix the issue with my Sims Medieval, but now my Sims 4 isn't loading properly and there aren't any updated saves in OneDrive. I disabled that. It's like my game is broken. I've never had this kind of issue with The Sims 4, it always ran smoothly (well, with the usual bugs everyone has). I've repaired it several times and I even got the new Spongebob Bundle. Can't even play with it.

Update: I just tried to open the game in Offline Mode and it still won't let me play... This happened overnight. I was able to play for awhile last night but now, not at all. I got a weird little cursor too for some reason, like I could edit something or type while the game continuously loads.

LovelyGelina​  I wasn't saying you need to play offline, not at all.  The point was that since the game works in offline mode, something about the connection is an issue.  If we can figure out what it is, we can address it and make the game work online again.  If you're interested, please try my suggestions and let me know what happens.

Thank you again. I really hate that I have to possibly play offline to get my game to work. I'll just download the things I need to play offline and go from there. Paying all of this money to have to play my game like this is revolting. I hate this.

LovelyGelina​  Since offline mode works, it's possible the issue here is OneDrive or your antivirus.  The first question is whether your Sims 4 user folder is inside the OneDrive folder; here's how to find out:

If that's not the issue, and you use a third-party antivirus, try temporarily disabling real-time scanning while you play.  As long as you don't do anything else while testing, your computer should be safe.

If neither helps, try playing with your computer online but with Online Social Access disabled within Sims 4.  The setting is under Options > Game Options > Other.  This would cut off your access to the Gallery but otherwise not impact the game itself.

Secondly, the only time the game seemed to work properly is when I went offline :(

The first suggestion worked for a minute but then it went back to not loading properly.  Once I went offline and played a few households, navigated in between worlds and CAS, everything ran extremely smoothly. I don't know what that tells you but I'm so disappointed lol - I'm extremely grateful for your help and tips, though ♥
