Crash to desktop on startup

Every time I open my game, it reaches the title screen, and then it crashes to my desktop. I deleted all of my mods and cc, I have tried turning off my firewalls, I tried launching the game from Steam instead, I have tried renaming the EA folder to get a clean folder, I have tried deleting EA background service in my task manager, I have uninstalled and reinstalled Sims 4 and EA, I tried launching the game through different accounts on my computer, I tried moving my game to a disk with more storage, I've deleted localthumbcache, and I've repaired the game countless times and nothing seems to work.

I have not made it very far in the game. It has only worked once without crashing, but every other time it crashes during the title screen. The furthest it has gotten before crashing is where you choose your house when you start a new household.

Also, whenever I open the EA app, it looks normal for about 2 seconds, and then it just goes blank and I can't do anything. The last time my game worked normally was last summer. I am completely out of ideas, and I need help.

  • hwii111  The EA App may be the issue here if it's not loading properly.  So please uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine), download a fresh copy of the installer, and run it as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  It's fine if the installer says the App is already present and would you like to repair it.

If that doesn't help the App work, do you use a VPN?  It might be interfering with the connection.  Try not using it, if possible.  You can also try putting the App in offline mode.  That would cut off your access to the Gallery, but Sims 4 should otherwise work the same, and hopefully not crash if the cause of the crash is the EA App not working correctly.

I'd like to see a dxdiag as well.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
