Crashing

Posting this because the issue is really unbearable. Since yesterday, my game has been crashing. It will stutter for a few frames, then crash. Today, I played for about 40 minutes, until the crash. Then, each time I opened the game, the window of time before the crash happened got shorter and shorter, until it would crash only a minute after playing.

I've repaired my game, updated my graphics card, updated my BIOS.  I play with little to no mods, which are updated. I never have crash issues with TS4. I attached the last crash txt file and my DxDiag. Thank you in advance for any help!

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • angsty_squid  Thanks for the dxdiag.  The lastcrash didn't attach (which is normal, the site flags some of the text as potentially harmful), but that's fine, it's mostly unusable by anyone outside of Maxis.

The Sims 4 crashes in your dxdiag are generic: the errors say the game crashed because it crashed, due to an access violation, which is too generic an error to be of any use on its own.  But the fact that the game keeps crashing sooner and sooner makes me wonder if this might be a hardware issue.  Does it help to wait ten or twenty minutes before trying to play again?  Does it help to turn the computer off for five minutes before trying to play again?

The other errors in your dxdiag may or may not be relevant.  There's one from the EA App that might mean nothing, and there's one from Asus software (e.g. GPU Tweak) that suggest you should shut down this software before trying to play, just in case.  However, if you've overclocked any components, please revert to stock settings and test again.  An overclock can be stable for a while before causing problems as the component degrades over time.

Your dxdiag also lists a couple crashes of the USB 3 driver.  These are typically not serious and often cleared up by unplugging all USB 3 devices and restarting the computer, then reconnecting them.  So please do that as well.

I played for about 20 minutes today until it crashed. Then, every time I opened the game, the time until it crashed got shorter and shorter until it crashed just a minute after launching.

I don't see any reaction or change in the situation.

What should I do in this situation?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I have the same issue! I tried removing my mods and custom content. I repaired the game. I tried creating new saves, but no matter what, it still crashes.
