Problem Origin alerted me of a new patch but after I update, the game just wants to update again like an endless loop. Cause Probably some other mess-up in Origin. This issue now also seems to crop up with every patch and here's a few suggestions you can try. If none of these help, please post in this thread, stating your antivirus software and what you've tried. Suggestions Clear Origin Cache files Reinstall Origin (you will not loose your games by doing this) Right click on the game in Origin and hit repair game. Change the origin language and back Make sure your antivirus software is not blocking Origin from accessing the Sims files Disable Auto-Updates Run Origin as Administrator Download EA Desktop Beta and try to update through that instead.

Just wanted to say when I updated my game, I ran into this issue again. I had tried just running Origin as Administrator.Clearing the Origin Cache files did the trick, though! 🙌Two things that need to be noted, though: you must kill the OriginWebHelperService process in Task Manager (in Windows 10; don't know about Mac, but crinrict's page about clearing the cache links to a page dedicated to that) to delete the ServiceLogs, and you have to redo your Application Settings afterwards, including the location of your Origin Games folder and disabling automatic game updates.

Yeah,I did the same thing too. It kept saying it needs an update. This happened after I bought the new expansion pack-Paranormal. I still can't play the game. It's ridiculous! I have tried everything. EA get your brains together and fix this!

Hi,Sorry if this has already been asked, I searched and couldn't find a thread. I've woken up today to an update needing doing on my Sims 4 game. I clicked update, origin did it's thing, said game was up to date, but the update button is still there and I can't play!When I clicked on the desktop icon instead, it said the game needed updating and wouldn't play until it had been done. Went through the whole process again, same thing. I'm not overly technically minded, but this has me stumped. I've restarted my computer, signed out and back in of origin, closed origin and started it again, all with the same results.TIAxx

I updated Sims 4 for the 25/2/20 update, the update finalised. It now keeps saying that I still need to update, I click update and it tells me my game is up to date, but then reverts back to "update" instead of "play". Have repeated this process several times. I can play "offline" but not online.The attached screen shots are all I see, I see picture a, I click update, I see picture b, then back to picture a

@puzzlezaddict Thank you, I was stuck in an endless loop of updating the game and clearing the cache fixed it!

So today I loaded the patch for the sims 4 but it keeps saying update, when I do it then says all updated, but the update button is still there, tried logging off and trying again, getting really annoyed now, as I wanted to play the sims 4.

Hi. I just downloaded latest update, it went through without any problems but can't start the game as it says I need to update, when I click to update, it says the game is updated but still can't start the game, tried restarting, fixing, nothing works. Any help?

The Sims 4 update that was released on 3/23/2021 shows as needing to be updated. I ran the update and everything seemed to go alright but once it finished finalizing, Origin still shows that the game needs to be updated. I tried restarting Origin, logging out and logging back in of Origin, doing a repair, restarting my computer, going offline then back online, running as admin, turning off my virus protection firewall. Nothing works.
A new issue happens every single time The Sims 4 updates and I am at the end of my rope here with how much more I can take with this game.

EDIT: All it took was restarting my computer 7 times. FOR GOD SAKES.
