Forum Discussion
legit just downloaded the sims 4 a couple weeks ago cause some friends of mine said i might love it and i thought i might as well check it out. I downloaded it and played it for a while then went on and got some mods. After playing a couple more times with mods i got the error saying "Error: There is a problem with your game's setup, please reinstall your game".
Really don't wanna do that cause it took me like a day or two to download it in the first place and i've seen other people on here saying that reinstalling it didn't even work. Already tried forcing the digital 9x thingy and i cant download any drivers since i dont have the graphic compatibilities? let a dude know if this means that i just cant use the game anymore or what
much love :D
hey after the update I ended up deleting all my mods and started fresh. I was playing the game yesterday, but i ended downloading some more cc, when I tried to play the game took forever to load. then eventually it started showing a pop up saying " there is a problem with your game's setup. please reinstall."
Ive tried different videos but nothing is working.. Please Help!

i saw a forum saying to run this, so here is my dxdiag.

Taniya2017 The dxdiag is appreciated, but it doesn't contain any info that would explain the issue. That's not a surprise though, since this particular error means the game can't start rather than that it's crashing.
Anyway, please remove your Mods folder and try again to play. You don't need to save your progress; this is just for testing.
If you get the same error, please let me know what antivirus you use.

im using total av as of right now

Taniya2017 Just in case it's the issue, please disable TotalAV temporarily. You don't need to uninstall it; the point is to have it not working for the moment. Once you've done that, clear the EA App's cache:
https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/
Repair the game (EA App > Sims 4 > Manage > Repair), and try again to play. If that works, reenable TotalAV and set exceptions for TS4_x64.exe, TS4_Launcher_x64.exe, and EADesktop.exe.
If that doesn't help, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there. Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address. (Just keep declining until you're asked some security questions instead.) You'll be able to at least try to launch the game without reinstalling anything.

Taniya2017 Here's how to create a new account:
You make it local by NOT linking a Microsoft account or an email address. Once the account is created, you can give it admin rights as described later in the same guide.
Edit: If that doesn't help, please try the suggestions here:
