I got the the message on Thursday telling me to install the new EA App and since then I've not been able to launch my game at all.
Just redownload Origin. That's what I'm in the process of doing. I uninstalled the evil App and reinstalled it, hoping that would do the trick, but it gobbled up Origin in the process and now it still won't launch my game. Keeps telling the viscious lie that I don't have Internet connection. Say what? I wouldn't be on the forum at this moment in time, if that were true. Face/palm. Like I said I was able to download Origin and it's in the process of installing. I'll be back here, if it's no longer able to function.
Works just fine. I have been playing my game for most of this elapsed time. :) - OldeSimsFan3 years agoNew Traveler

I'm still on Origin. I'll only move when/if I have to. When they switched from the EA Downloader to Origin, I lost a bunch of packs and had to deal with customer service for a long time trying to fix it, only to discover some packs were no longer supported. I didn't get them back until they released Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. (They did give me a free Sims 3 pack as a way of reimbursing me). I also lost all the stuff I'd purchased in the Sims 2 store and didn't get that back until years later.
As an aside, does anyone else find it humorous that they had an "EA" app, went to Origin, and are now going back to an "EA" app?
Humorous, no; ominous, yes. It gives the impression that what was discarded as inferior to be replaced by Origin is now being gone back to. Not a good feeling. - Jayel-13 years agoSeasoned AceThe other thread is saying the changeover was on December 9. I haven't dared even look. I want to see more experiences here first.
- Jayel-13 years agoSeasoned AceI dared look, and right enough it's telling me to install the EA App and it will automatically uninstall Origin. I'm not even going to try it now. I'll do it tomorrow when I have a whole afternoon free to sort it out if anything goes wrong!
- I still use Origin on my computer; just like Windows 11, I don't plan on changing until I'm forced to do it.

I can't get past the message. I just had to hit quit origin from the taskbar as I couldn't even close it from the open app.
I guess this is me being forced now into the change over. - Jayel-13 years agoSeasoned AceI'm going to tackle this tomorrow. I don't have time for problems today.
I'm glad to hear more successful change overs than unsuccessful ones.
As far as TS3 goes, I have never played through Origin as I still play from my disc, if and when I ever play it these days. - Sheepiling3 years agoRising Rookie

I’ve recently moved over and have not found any issues with Sims 4. Unfortunately, there are issues with Sims 2 and Sims 3 though.
Sims 2 Ultimate Collection is now Sims 2 Double Deluxe, and all Sims 3 Special Editions and Limited Editions are now just Sims 3 regular editions. I haven’t checked my Sims 3 store stuff yet as I haven’t downloaded Sims 3 to my new computer yet.
Please let us know about these inconsistencies here so we can alert the right teams."GalacticGal;c-18209284" wrote:
Once again, the App is a but, telling me my game failed to launch. It's been doing this for quite some time, recently. I don't think it's ready for Prime Time, plus, I've also noticed there is no longer the warning that Origin is coming to a close, soon.
We have a thread for this issue here.
Having to report the bugs so y'all can contact the right teams sounds a lot like a beta process. I don't know why beta was ended when the app isn't ready yet. There should have already been hired bug testers making sure all the games worked well before the app was forced on everyone, with enough time for optional beta testing from those actually willing to make bug reports.
Your beta isn't over. It's just a forced beta on everyone now. We either have to be an unpayed bug tester by no choice of our own, or deal with a broken game and missing content. That's not ok. I really hope these issues get resolved ASAP because the Sims 3 store is EXPENSIVE for DLC collectors. - GypsyRozLyn3 years agoSeasoned NewcomerSo far, I am still playing using Origin. I have kept it off line so maybe that is why.
I dread having to switch to the EA app because I am on the update before Werewolves and that is where I want to keep it because I do not want that fears update that they have yet to fix the off switch for and I do not want the constant phone use update and all the other buggy things that have come in the updates lately. My game is great the way it is, but I feel sure that once I switch to the new app, it will auto update my game, and then it will be broken.
I also still play Sims 2 and Sims 3 and Sims Medieval on Origin and I keep hearing that a lot of that content is not showing up on the new app. I have a lot of store content for Sims 3 and certainly do not want to lose it. - bshag4lv3 years agoSeasoned AdventurerHi Bluegayle, I just checked and all my games are where they should be. I only have 6 games in the app, including Sims 3, which I probably need to uninstall.
I can only wish those who are having trouble find solutions quickly.
