EA App says "Download via Steam" even though I don’t own the Steam version

Hi, I’m having a strange problem with The Sims 4 on the EA App.

I have never owned the Steam version — my game and all DLCs were bought directly on EA/Origin. Suddenly, when I try to launch the game in the EA App, it says:
"Download this game via Steam to start it via the EA App."

I cannot uninstall the game from the EA App — the uninstall option is missing. I also tried launching the game directly from TS4_x64.exe in the installation folder, but it says:
"Could not start – incompatible version." 

I have already:

  • Cleared the EA App cache
  • Reinstalled the EA App
  • Tried moving the installation folder
  • Checked for linked accounts (no Steam account is linked)

But the problem remains, and the "Download" button is greyed out.

Is there a way to fix this without losing my saves, or is it an EA server-side issue?

    This sounds like you still have Steam linked to your EA account- I'd recommend you get in contact with the live support team so they can review your account info an be sure your Steam has been removed.
