EA app won't open the sims

EA app keeps saying the sims4 isn't available at this time? Is anyone else experiencing this.

I am on PC, I used the app just fine yesterday, but today it won't load the game.

I am currently reinstalling all my sims4 content.

Once I reloaded the entire game it started working, but now I can't see the gallery anymore and I haven't changed my Antivirus and the sims4 is still listed as an exception, all I have are Red X's over everything since switching from Origin to EA, any idea on how I can fix this.

Thank you so much for your help!

@kalra1978 I don't know if this helps but I now get a message that I'm not connected do you want to connect? I click connect and the gallery works.  hth

  • hi I'm having this issue too when you say you reinstalled the app do you mean you reinstalled the ea app or the sims 4 itself. I don't have a problem with reinstalling the ea app but I'm scared of loosing my saves if i reinstall the sims. I've tried the repair button in the ea app and nothing seemed to happen. It's bee a couple of days now and I'm not sure what to do.

@LeniceY  Your saves and other user content are stored in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.  This folder is separate from the game's program files and shouldn't be deleted when you uninstall the game, but it's best to make a backup just to be safe.

However, there are other steps you can take before reinstalling that may prove more useful anyway.  First, as a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

  • @kalra1978 I had a similar issue a few days ago but in my case I could not even repair or reinstall the game. The issue was resolved when the EA app and my computer were both updated.
    I hope this helps.

@sharktommy  If the game works with the new Sims 4 folder in place but not the old one, try adding your old content, a little at a time, to the new folder.  If and when the game stops loading properly, you'll know that whatever you added most recently is the problem, and you can split that last batch of files until you find the culprit.

You only need to add back the contents of saves, Tray, perhaps Mods, and maybe Screenshots and Recorded Videos.  The rest can be discarded; the game will generate new files as necessary.
