Game crashed within 5mins or less since lastest update

Since the last update I cannot play the sims4 without my screen freezing, turning black & then coming back on before the whole game crashes, all within 5 mins or less of playing and also losing any progress made in those few minutes. Help!  I thought it may have been my computer the other day, but it's only when I try to open the sims.
