Game Crashing a Lot

I've been having a lot of trouble with the game crashing lately, enough so that it's getting hard to play.  In the past, I've had families I've played for 10+ generations, and now I can barely manage to get through one generation without the crashing happening.  I've been playing Sims since the original, before all the expansion packs were out, so over a couple of decades now, and I have never had as much crashing as recently.

I play PC, no mods, no CC, just a bunch of the packs.  It started recently, not linked to any particular pack that I noticed.  I can start a brand new save and it won't crash for a while, but by the time the house starts getting bigger and they start getting more stuff (gardening, paintings for the walls, skill objects, etc), it starts crashing.  I like to try completing collections, but I can't have those exhibited most of the time, they have to be in an inventory space/chest/household inventory.  Sometimes I can play for several sims' days without it crashing, but other times it is crashing a couple times a day.

I can't really play the game this way.  I keep trying different saves to see if it'll work, but this has reached a point where I can't even play anymore because of all the crashing.

    Hi storywriter27

could you make the links public ?

Old exceptions are not that useful so you can delete the ones from october and september.

Did the patch make any difference for you ?

Could yo make sure to tag me when you answer ? That way I get a notification.

Who knows, maybe the blue screen flashed too quick for me to realize it technically happened?

Thanks for explaining!  I have uploaded them to my googleDrive.  Here is the link for LastCrash https://drive.google.com/file/d/11yTCyAYSU-AUrV2koP0yt7U2sOR9A1_9/view?usp=drive_link

And the link for LastException https://drive.google.com/file/d/1opcLhW9XpWC-AbKkTT7SztpzG6TfwoUW/view?usp=drive_link

I have earlier ones from September and October if those would be helpful, too.

    Hi storywriter27

unfortunately you can't upload lastCrash or exception files here but you can upload them to oneDrive or googleDrive for example.
You can just copy/paste the content but lastCrash files tend to be a bit lengthy so they don't always fit.

Hm, you're DxDiag showed two of those but maybe I'm misinterpreting this :D

Sorry for being snippy, I'm frustrated that EA is ignoring all these issues and relying on volunteers to help instead of paying people to actually fix stuff.

I do have LastCrash/LastException log files but I'm not sure what third party site you are talking about to upload them.  Can I just attach them here or they have to be uploaded somewhere else first?

    Hi storywriter27

sorry that no one is currently helping you out but we're volunteers are currently spread a bit thin, especially on the tech side.

Do you have any LastCrash/LastException log files in your documents folder ? If so could you upload the to a third party side and post them here ?

Did you have any BSOD as well ? Was that while playing Sims or elsewhere ?

Any chance I could get some help with this?  I tried again today and it is still crashing randomly.  I cannot even play anymore with how often it is crashing.  Is there some way to fix this so I can actually play again or do I just have to give up on Sims after 20+ years?  You aren't giving me many options here.

  • storywriter27  Please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
