Game Crashing!

At first my game would just freeze up when I would try to send my sim to college. Also, when my sims would invite guest over, they would show up and disappear. Now since the update my game would go to the The Sims 4 screen and then cut off!! I have repaired it and restarted it and nothing isn't working!!

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the camera (Insert Media) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Separately, when you try to send your sim to college, are you splitting the household?  That's a known issue, and if it's your issue too, please use the master bug thread:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-SAVES-Can-t-use-split-from-household-and-move-LE-add-knows/m-p/10005812

EA is looking for saves, as noted in the accepted solution, so please provide yours if you're willing.

  • deshun24  Your dxdiag lists a few generic Windows update errors, so please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

The dxdiag doesn't list any Sims 4 crashes, so I'd like more information on those.  Please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Try again to play, then look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

Please don't try to move out a sim during this test, since it's a known issue and has nothing to do with any potential problems on your own computer.  Just play normally and wait for something to happen.

You can also try playing in DirectX 9 mode.  You should see a check box with the other graphics options, to the right of post processing.  If DX9 mode fixes the crashing but you'd prefer to use DirectX 11 mode, let me know, and we can continue troubleshooting the issue.

Okay this is the code i received after i did the Windows key and X

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.
    PS C:\WINDOWS\system32>

Now I am going restart it.

Thanks for your help it is now working I lost all my saves but it's okay.

  • deshun24  You should be able to restore your saves, wherever they happen to have gone, as long as they're not deleted.  They need to be in the Sims 4 folder the game is reading; here's how to find it:

    https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/

If you search your computer and can't find your saves (search for Slot_ specifically), try looking on onedrive.com, either in My Files or the Recycle Bin.  Let me know if you need further help.
