Game downloads extremely slow to external hard drive

Hii!! So, I've been trying to download my Sims 4 game to an external hard drive forever and it downloads so incredibly slow. I've done everything the EA website advises but nothing works (I.E clearing my cache, restarting, and repairing the app). When I download the game on my main hard drive it usually averages 100 MB/s, downloading it on my external hard drive averages 100-70 KB/s.

Any solutions?

  • iiheartmiles  I don't have a direct fix for this, but there's a workaround.  Install the game to your internal hard drive, temporarily.  Close the EA App and kill the EABackgroundService in the Task Manager.  Copy the program files (the entire "The Sims 4" folder that contains subfolders like Data, Delta, Game, etc.) to the location you want it on the external.  Open the EA App and tell it to "download" the game to that location.  If all goes as planned, the App will simply verify the files and complete the process without needing to download any data.

OMG... haha how stupid! I was ready to delete my game.. had the same issue. Did all of the recommended steps. But clicking "pause-and-play-button" like a maniac ten times in a row actually helped :D
