Game file can't be added into EA folder because its "open" but it isn't
I had a previous issue where the game would launch, but the screen would just stay white and never load to the main menu. In order to fix it I decided to see if the game could load to the main menu with a new save and then I could repair the game through the EA app. So I moved my Sims 4 folder onto my desktop and launched the game with a completely brand new blank game with no saves. The game launched perfectly fine, so I went back to my desktop and tried to move the Sims 4 folder back into the EA folder.
But now every time I try, I get a pop-up window from Windows telling me that "The action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program." Clicking Try Again just reopens the pop-up again and again, so I can't do anything to figure out what is causing it to show up. I've been repeatedly checking the Task Manager app and from what I can tell, neither the EA or Sims 4 apps are open and running. So no I don't think the folder or any file in it is open in another program, but then again I'm not a computer expert so I have no idea what is actually going on here.
I play on a laptop with Windows 10, and I just recently updated the game with no issues whatsoever. I have CC/mods installed but I don't think they're causing the problems because I was able to play just fine two days ago even with those CC/mods installed and running. If anyone has any solutions or experienced this before, I would really appreciate any help to try and fix this issue. I just really want to jump back into my game again! lol
@thecornlady Try pausing OneDrive syncing, which you can do by right-clicking the cloud icon in the lower-right corner of the screen. And restart your computer.
Please also keep in mind that if you move the old Sims 4 folder back into the Electronic Arts folder, you're just reintroducing the problem. It would be best to move individual folders one at a time, testing along the way to make sure the game still runs. If it doesn't, you'll know something in the folder you moved is the culprit.
