Game stuck on "update required"

After yesterday's update I am unable to launch my game because it is stuck on "update required" even though I have updated the game 3 times, repaired the game and cleared the cache. I use mods, but I removed them prior to the update. So basically the "play" button isn't even there, EA APP wants me to update over and over again.

  • italiansimmer84  Did you repair after clearing the EA App's cache, like this?

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

If not, please do so now.

Please also delete GameVersion.txt, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.

If that doesn't help, try taking the App offline.  Most of the time, you'll be able to play offline without updating, and some of the time, going offline and back online (perhaps a bit later) fixes the update issue.

  • So it isn’t just my game?? I clicked the update button three times already nothing happened and there’s this forum at the top “to follow local laws, we need to check your age before you can buy or access age-restricted games and content”.

  • I managed to update the game, but I started it this morning, before that dreaded age verification banner appeared, so it makes sense that this bug may prevent you from updating.

As puzzlezaddict said, try to go offline on the EA App and play the game from there. At least until they sort this mess.
