Game Will Not Launch

I downloaded Sims 4 yesterday via Steam and it won't load, no matter what I try to do.  I have other games with Steam that all open fine but this is the only one that won't load.  I click Play, it looks like it's launching and then ... nothing.  It flashes up on my taskbar as if opening then disappears and the button on Steam goes back to Play.  Any suggestions, please?  My laptop specs are below for ease of reference:

    JezzyDraig​  Thanks for the specs, but I'd rather look at a full dxdiag, which will list a lot more potentially helpful info (including a selection of recent Windows errors).  To generate one, click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
