emilyjh11 The graphics card in the Acer is significantly faster than the one in the Gigabyte. That won't matter at all for Sims 4 but will definitely affect how well Hogwarts Legacy runs. I'm not as sure about Planet Zoo but can do some research if you want. Since the processors are the same and both laptops have 16 GB RAM, there's no other meaningful difference for gaming.
Gigabyte makes desktop components like discrete graphics cards and motherboards, as well as laptops and some other items. Its products are more high-end than Acer, but that's not to say that everything it makes is high-end; it has entry-level options like most other brands in this space. This laptop is an example of that—it's supposed to be cheap enough to be accessible, so it doesn't have any extra features that would drive up the price.
If you asked me to guess which laptop would hold up better over time, I would guess the Gigabyte model, but they're not so far apart that I could be sure about that, and a lot comes down to random chance. And while Acer laptops traditionally have been junk after a couple years, things have improved in the last few product cycles, to the point that I think it's fine to buy one as long as you don't need it to last a decade.
Point is, if you care about in-game performance for HL and will want another new laptop in ~4 years, the Acer is the clear better choice. But the Gigabyte is a legitimate option too if you like it for other reasons.
It should also be pointed out that the same Gigabyte laptop with an RTX 5060 (so the same one as the Acer) and otherwise the same specs is only £100 more:
