I have removed my two mods (Command Center and Zerbu All Worlds Residential) and also repaired the game. I have restarted the computer after doing so. This happened after the May 27, 2025 update.
Every time I enter Live Mode, the game gets stuck and either crashes or just freezes, prohibiting me from closing Live Mode and returning to the game.
PigDemon17 I don't see anything in your dxdiag that looks like it needs to be fixed. So if you're only seeing the disappearing UI issue, please post in the thread that covers that. This thread is about crashing too, and that's why it's in the PC tech forum rather than the Bugs forum.
Hi, I'm having the same issue as listed above -- while playing a custom scenario in City Life, the option for build mode disappears after I enter live mode. Other UI also disappear, and each time I have to save, quit, and enter the game again, but it doesn't fix the problem. For better explanation, halfidentity posted a link experiencing the same bug.
I ran dxdiag and there were no issues with anything. Let me know if you have any other ideas, thanks!
WendyFallenAngel I wasn't being snotty, I was trying to emphasize that updating is not the same thing as clean-uninstalling and reinstalling. That's a distinction lost on some players who post here, and they tend to say they "updated." There was nothing in your post to indicate that you did in fact use DDU, and I would have no way of knowing how much tech knowledge is present in your household.
If the crashing is still present in a new save, with no mods or custom content, and you still want help on this site, feel free to post a new dxdiag.
@Puzzleaddict no need to be snotty, I did an uninstall/reinstall I just didn't feel I needed to put a step by step account of updating my drivers. My partner is a systems analyst so you can be sure I did it correctly 🙄
WendyFallenAngel I didn't suggest you update your drivers, I suggested you do a clean uninstall and reinstall. If you haven't yet, please do that now. There's a real need for DDU here.
KatieGez Does this happen with no mods or custom content? Please test if you haven't already and let me know. I've seen a number of reports of this but no confirmation (yet) about whether it happens without mods or cc present.
Same! I just got a new PC and never played a scenario before, so I decided to do the PlantSim one. The first couple of times I went into build/buy, I got back to live just fine. But after that, it would remove the UI and gray out the ability to return to build/buy. Attempts to go to Manage Worlds or do anything else apart from the options menu just gave me a black screen. So frustrating!
I updated my drivers and my game is still doing the same thing, it is intermittent and happens more frequently if I am playing a scenario although it can still crash just switching to build/buy mode and back to live mode in a save without a running scenario.
WendyFallenAngel Your dxdiag lists a few serious crashes of the graphics driver, or one of them. This could definitely take out Sims 4 if it happened while you were playing. So please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of both drivers, as described here:

The proper order of operations here is uninstall the Nvidia driver > uninstall the Intel driver > restart > reinstall the Intel driver > restart > reinstall the Nvidia driver > restart, all while your computer is offline.

Could you post your Computer's DxDiag?
- Press Windows-Key + R
- Type: DxDiag
- Click on Save all Information.
- Attach the Text File to your post
I am also using Windows 11 and have followed all the steps you suggested, as well as deleting cache files etc,
