except I didn't actually mean to post here. thought I was somewhere else
@sppnzeither way... you still use Origin, right? Or already swicthed to EA app?
@sppnz Please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Please also let me know what antivirus you're using, if any.

I use the EA app since origin is gone now.
Rheea app says launching through steam.
The other problem I have is that it launches legacy when I choose get to work
@sppnz Are you saying you own the game through Steam?
And again, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post here.

I run avast as antivirus, and as per a youtube video, have added ea and steam as exclusions. the video suggested then emptying ea cache, which I did. then suggested running repair, on the sims in the ea app, but repair option isn't coming up
@sppnz Please update the driver for your computer's graphics chip. It's over three years old and may no longer be compatible with Sims 4. You can get the newest driver for your graphics chip directly from Intel:
To be clear, you want the standard driver, dated October 26, not the older beta. Run the instalelr as an admin: right-click on the download and select "Run as administrator." Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.
For Avast, please set an exception for TS4_x64.exe as well. If you don't see it on the list, it's possible Avast has already quarantined the .exe. You can fix this, temporarily, by repairing the game, then setting the exception before trying to play.
Please also compare your Avast settings to the ones here and make sure to add any other exceptions you haven't already:

and the ea app says it's accessing them but in game isn't playing them. For example, the pack I bought was get to work, but the new careers aren't showing on the computer

You need to start the game with steam. Sadly, if you buy one DLC on steam you have only access if you start it with steam. I would not recommend mixing EA app and steam for sims 4 DLC. If it possibly I would try to get a refund on steam and buy it again on EA app. Steam normally give you without issue a refund.
