I need a refund for Businesses & Hobbies and support won't help me.

I bought it on the day after it got announced but 2 days after I saw a better price so I tried to ask for a refund. It says there's no games I can get a refund on but there is so I contact support. They tell me that the purchase is still being processed so to contact them again a few days later. I do, but problem still not solved but now I can't even do the live chat anymore. So I try email contact. What happens? It says I need to resume case or else they will automatically close it (with no response from EA) but if I click it, it takes me back to the main page. It's starting to feel like EA's support is as broken as their games I guess.

I can't do live chat, I can't do anything or contact them anyway. It almost feels like they are postponing it until I can't refund it anymore but I won't let that happen.

Please help me.

  • Seamphony  Can you cancel the purchase on ea.com, under Account Settings > Order History?

If that doesn't work, try to find a live chat option again, and keep picking different categories of support until you find on that offers a chat.

As for pre-orders, you should be able to cancel up until release.

By the way, please be careful about discounted offers.  Some third-party sites sell the content without the bonus items, and/or product codes that might not have been obtained legally.  A few site will sell the bonus items separately, and other players have been fooled into thinking they're buying the entire pack.  EA won't help in cases where the purchase was made through an unauthorized third-party seller.

Thank yo so much for the reply! "Can you cancel the purchase on ea.com, under Account Settings > Order History?" This worked! I will now wait for the refund to hit my account but it should be okay! Kinda surprised that they didn't tell me this in one of the many times I contacted them 😅 Turned out to be pretty easy! Thank you so much!

About the third-party websites, I googled and a lot of fellow simmers said CD-Keys is safe. Do you think it's safe?

    I bought it here: https://www.cdkeys.com/the-sims-4-businesses-hobbies-pc-dlc-ea-app

Also the extra content, they say that it's included.

I can confirm CDKeys is safe. Have bought many packs from the site. Although normally they are cheeky and sell codes for the digital content separately closer to release. Just checked the description on this listing though and it does specifically state that it is included so make sure you hold them to that! Seen their currently selling the For Rent Digital preorder content for £29.99 which is extortionate. The first expansion I pre-ordered from CD Keys was was High School Years, they didn't have the digital content separately back then and EA to this very day refuse to provide it to me as I didn't preorder directly from the EA app.

I reached out to them directly as your comment confused me with how the website usually deals with preorder content. This was my response and it's made me happy. The expansion for a price it's actually worth yay!:

    Hi Liam

Many thanks for getting in contact.

We have verified that the preorder bonus for The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies PC - DLC is included, as stated in the product description on our website. This bonus will be available to you when you place your order through April 18, 2025.

  • Seamphony  I have seen a lot of cases where products from CD Keys didn't work outright, or the code did work initially but was later removed by EA because there was fraud somwhere along the pipeline.  (That doesn't mean the user committed fraud, only that the code wasn't legimately obtained.)  I've seen other cases where users didn't get the bonus content from a new Sims 4 expansion.  That doesn't mean it will happen to you this time around, only that it's always a risk.

It's also worth noting that when a third-party seller is offering a lower price than you'd get directly from EA, that seller is still presumably making money, so it has to be obtaining the codes for less than its sales price.  That alone makes you wonder how that happens.

If you're comfortable with that risk, that's your choice.  I personally wouldn't do it.
