Issue with Game Launch After Latest The Sims 4 Update

Dear Support Team,
Since the most recent update, I have been unable to launch The Sims 4 properly. While I am able to start the game by clicking "Play," it crashes once it reaches the Plumbob loading screen. At that point, the background music begins to cut out, the screen freezes, and the game subsequently closes. I have attempted to launch the game multiple times, but the issue persists.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide a solution to this problem.

  • YamurGlr  Great, please post in the master bug report if you're willing to share more information and/or an affected save.  EA_Cade requested saves here:

It would also be helpful to post (in that thread) a list of the mods and custom content you've been using, if you do use mods and cc in general.

Some users say that creating a new save, then saving progress and quitting, allows them to add back their old saves, the idea being that only the save's preview on the Main Menu is broken.  The preview is of the most recently played save, which is why creating a new one fixes the issue, and then you can try loading an old save using the Load Game button.

If the game crashes when you try to open an old save, try adding back (updated vesions, if necessary, of) your mods and cc, which a few players have said helps them load affected saves.
