It wont load past the title screen

i don’t have any mods so don’t suggest removing them. The game opens and starts normally but then it freezes on the title screen before i can get to the main menu. i have tried repairing it, clearing the cache and restarting my computer.

    Hi,

I'm facing the same problem. Currently, I'm reinstalling the game, I'll let you know if it fix the issue.

I have the same problem, I tried repairing, restarting the game, restarting my computer, clearing the cache, removing all my cc and mods but it still can't open... I'm a little reassured that I'm not the only one with this problem, I hope it will be fixed soon!

It didn't work, maybe it's from their side, but at the same, my sis told me that on her computer the game works normally. I have no idea what it is about.

I managed to fix the game:

After reinstalling didn't help with the issue, I tried removing the folder where the game saves are, and I've found what causes the problem.

I tried to remove folders one by one, each time I checked if the game would work. Here's what you should do:

Typically, you should have that folder in your documents if you haven't moved it.
    C:\Users\[your name/your computer name]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4

then go to the "saves" folder

And move or delete older saves. As far as I checked, the 4 recent saves left work safely, it is possible that more of them can work, but I checked up to 4 only. If you have the saves where you have other families, etc., copy them and save them in other folder if you want.

Let me know if it worked for you. ❤️

  • I'm having a similar problem - I can get past the load screen but not into any households, even if I manage to make it to the map after the initial unsuccessful load.

I've spent two hours doing all the usual fixes: restarting steam, EA, and my laptop, removing all mods, loading old saves, deleting all the cache files, repairing EA, verifying the file integrity on steam. at first i thought it was this household specifically, because this has happened before with them (it fixes itself usually idk), but i tried four different families in three different neighborhoods and two townie families 😭

I'm a little nervous to try deleting save files, but I may try it if they don't update soon. I'm really glad it's not just me though, I had no idea what else to try!

Update: I copied all my save files to the desktop and moved only three files back (one save with two of its most recent versions, which turned out to not even be my legacy family lol) and it wouldn't load either. I managed to get into a lot by removing my Sims 4 folder entirely, but that doesn't really help. It's also stopped jumping me to the map, and I feel like the more I try to fix it when it's an EA problem, the less it works, so that makes me think even more that the problem's on their end. I was going to settle for building tonight, but now it won't even let me on the map lol

Did you try moving the folders that are necessary to save your current games: (those are

    • Custom Music (only if you already put some music of your own here)
    • Mods
    • Saves
    • Tray
    • Options.ini (This is not a folder. It is a file, which is named Options)
(I think also if you take pics during the game or recording, take those out, too: Recorded movies/clips, and screenshots folders.)

And after moving those folders to another folder on your computer, delete the whole folder "The Sims 4"

    C:\Users\[your name/your computer name]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4

    - after you launch the game, it restores the files back, then shut the game off.

    Go back to the
C:\Users\[your name/your computer name]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 or wherever you have your saves, etc., and put your files back (saves, mods, Tray folders, and options.ini file.)

Let me know if that worked. ❤️

PS. Don't forget about leaving only up to 4 of your last saves
(there's possibility that you can leave more, but the last 4 is what I checked so far, you can try leaving more, then deleting/moving one by one, it shouldn't broke the game anyway.) :)

  • I have also found that it works with certain save files. In my case, however, it is the older save files that work (see picture). Whenever I remove my most recent save-file (the file with the 11), everything loads normally. However, if this most recent save is in the save folder, the game crashes. 😟

In addition, a folder named “scratch” is always created in my save folder. I don't know what this folder is all about.
