Laptop recommendations

  • chloe7800  The MSI is listed as out of stock at Currys but is still available from Argos:

Of the ones you listed, the Lenovo with 16 GB RAM is the best for overall use, but its graphics chip is a bit slower than other similar options.  So it's something of a trade-off.   If you want the best Sims 4 performance, the MSI is the better option.  But the MSI's RAM is soldered to the motherboard, meaning you couldn't add more later.

The other two are a little slower and I'd skip them entirely.

If this laptop is only or mainly for Sims 4, and you don't mind playing with nothing else running in the background, and you'll be in a position to replace it in, say, three years, the MSI would be the better option.  (It also has a nicer screen if that matters to you.)  If you want or need to multitask, or the laptop needs to last longer, I would strongly consider the Lenovo for its extra RAM.

The other option is to wait until Black Friday sales, to see if something with 16 GB memory and a faster graphics chip drops into your price range.  There's no guarantee, but it's a reasonable possibility, especially as new stock is coming in around that time and retailers want to clear out last year's still perfectly-usable models.

The only other thing it will be used for is Netflix/disney+

  • chloe7800  This one is similar to the others you linked, aside from its 16 GB RAM.  Its graphics chip is slower than the MSI I was talking about before, so it's not ideal either.  I'd go with the original 16 GB laptop over this just because of the lower price—I'd expect them to be similar in graphics performance.

If the higher price isn't a problem, this laptop is a bit cheaper and close to the first MSI in terms of graphics power:

There are other $450 Dell laptops that would be similar if you're interested, but since this one is only $420, it's probably the best option on a budget.

  • Would this one be better?

  • chloe7800  This is how I'd rank all the laptops in this thread with only Sims 4 in mind.

    Best option overall:

    Next-best for Sims 4:

If you're willing to pay for the Dell, you get both the 16 GB RAM and the better performance, so the other 16 GB laptop with the significantly-slower graphics chip isn't worth it.  If you're not willing to pay for the Dell AND your priority is Sims 4, then the MSI is the next-best option.  The others are no better and at least as expensive so can be crossed off the list.

The new one you found is slower than the Dell and £10 more, so it's also not worth getting if the Dell is an option.
