Laptop version of sims crashing in CAS

Hoping this is the right place to post, but I have recently been having some problems with opening sims. I play on laptop (surface 3). 

Preciously, I could not get onto sims at all, and the error code had green streaks running through it - fixed by removing TMex’s all scenarios.

Now, however, I can get through the initial loading screen, to create a new game, but ‘load game’ won’t work. When I get into CAS, I click to create a sim and it only shows the outline/ghosted sim (not sure how to describe it), and won’t allow me to click onto it to load it. 

Ive tried removing/disabling mods, restarting and uninstalling the game and changing the graphics settings on my laptop, but nothing seems to work.

Would really appreciate if anyone could help with this!
