sugarous You're right, you shouldn't need laptop mode. But please test with no mods or custom content, as in, move the Mods folder to the desktop. If this helps, the problem isn't only your computer but also something in the Mods folder.
Still, custom content shouldn't be able to trigger a BlueScreen. So I'd like to see a dxdiag. Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
