Legacy edition gone wrong
I thought it was my fault when my sims 4 game wouldn’t start up three days ago. I tried to fix it myself—uninstalling and reinstalling origin several times, even uninstalling my game itself. (Origin also never would boot up at start, or even when I clicked it). I eventually got so frustrated I reset my PC, but now even that didn’t fix the problem! It says I’m missing a file called “api-ms-win-crt-heap-1l-1-0.dll” and then part of it ended up changing to “runtime” later that night. I googled the issue and it led me to install a file from Microsoft visual c++ but the file won’t install correctly so idk what to do. I’m even more confused now because the most recent posts in the origin subreddit say that origin is “unusable” and has been crashing for others. Idk, I just wanted to play my game and origin initially made me think I needed to play the 32-bit legacy edition of the sims but while i was doing all of this work I found out that my system is 64 bits, can run this game and always has just fine! If anyone could help, I’d appreciate it as I won’t be able to have someone look at it until Tuesday.
I’m not a computer wiz so I’m just about giving up but I do have one specific question that may be able to help: my computer has files from the Microsoft visual program from 2010-2015, would it be possible I need to install later versions?
