May 4 Update Failure

Today Origin automatically tried to update Sims 4 with the May 4th patch.

The update got all the way to 300% (first sign something wasn't right), and after trying to finalise the update I got a message that the update had failed.

There was no option to repair or reinstall the update and now the Sims 4 icon is permanently grayed out in Origin.

I restarted the computer, and uninstalled and reinstalled Origin but Sims 4 is still unplayable. I'm certain that Sims 4 is not running as a background process.

Any advice for a fix?

I have a similar problem, tried to download the update today gets to 100% then pauses by itself. tried un-pausing several times but it always gets ti 100% then pauses. tried repair same happened here got to 100% repair then paused!

Tried the CCleaner which just cut me off from EA support chat and didn't solve the problem. Any ideas?

I'm on Windows 8.1. When I go to C: > Program Files > Origin none of those files are there.

Okay, I've deleted all the relevant files. This did absolutely nothing, Sims 4 is still grayed out in Origin. Any other suggestions?

Do you get any option if you right click on the game in Origin ? Is the whole game greyed out or just the Play button ?

The whole game is grayed out, including the play button.

When I right click I have a few options including check for update (which does nothing) and game properties, but there is no repair option.
