Menu saying i cant run 64 bit

My game keeps coming up with a menu after launch, saying i cant run the sims, and to run a 32 bit version instead (I'm aware that's not possible anymore). i have a 64 bit system with 4.00 gb ram. i don't see the issue. can someone please help. I've tried repairing.

  • JameeBranson  Does this happen if you try to play immediately after restarting your computer, with nothing else open?  Please try it and let me know.

Please also restart your computer, wait five minutes without opening anything, and open the Task Manager and let me know how much RAM is in use.  I'd like the percentage shown in the Memory header.  Then click the Startup tab and post a screenshot (use Windows key-shift-S) of the list of startup apps.  It may help to disable some of these at startup, but I'd like to see the list before suggesting you just disable anything that looks unnecessary or suspicious.

Finally, I'd like to see a dxdiag as well.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

This has been an issue since i got my hard drive for extra storage for sims. I've tried restarting and its still an issue. Here's the dxdiag, i already seen it before and everything looks fine.

The percentage in the memory header goes between 70%-80%, that seems a bit high

  • JameeBranson  With only 4 GB RAM installed, having the system use around three quarters of it after startup isn't unusual.  But I might be able to help bring that number down, to free up more resources for Sims 4.  If you're interested, please post the screenshot of the Task Manager's Startup list I requested.

The message about needing to switch to the 32-bit version is because of your 4 GB memory plus how much is already in use when you launch the game.  If you don't see any other problems, and you can play normally, you could ignore this message, at least for now.  But if you do notice performance issues, or you're not able to play at all, that's what I'm trying to help you fix.

Having said that, your computer's hardware is below the game's minimum requirements, so I don't know how much of an improvement you'll get.  I'm not saying you can't play, only that there might be a ceiling to what you can realistically get out of this game.
