My game just keeps crashing
I've been having this problem for a few months now. My game keeps crashing. I've tried updating/installing a new driver, taking out all cc/mods, testing in a fresh sims 4 folder, uninstalling all th...
@AaryBigDumb Half the errors in your dxdiag are from the EA App, not Sims 4. So I'd suggest uninstalling the App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine). Restart your computer before reinstalling.
If you get another crash, try putting the App in offline mode before launching the game. Other than losing access to the Gallery, there shouldn't be any negative impact.
If you see yet another crash, please try playing in a clean boot:
The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run. Disable the rest as described.
When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled. If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.
Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window. And put the App in offline mode, and take your computer offline, before launching the game. This isn't a fix, just a diagnostic test.
Please continue to play in a clean Sims 4 folder.
Even with a clean boot, my game still crashed.
I can try the whole process again in case I did it wrong, but my hopes for it working aren't very high.
What am I supposed to do if it continues not working?
@AaryBigDumb So that means you also clean-uninstalled and reinstalled the EA App? If that doesn't work, it's worth testing in a new admin Windows account. Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account. Your saves and other user content won't be available, but that's fine and can be addressed later.
A clean uninstall means using Revo right? If so then I did another clean uninstall and install and it seems to be working okay now. I just tested it the game made it all the way to thursday (it didn't crash, I closed the game myself) on 3x speed while other tests only made it to the middle of monday (crashing).
But in case it does start crashing again, how would I test using a new admin Windows account?
