My game won't load when I click play

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Rarely (0% - 9%)
What is your current game version number? ?
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? City living and parenthood and laundry day
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? By installing mods or install game pack while offline
What happens when the bug occurs? My game won't load if I click play
What do you expect to see? I press play then my sims 4game won't work
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. I downloaded holiday celabration pack then it said error.

  • Hey please could you help me fix my sims 4 game every time I press play on origin it doesn't load this is not the first time it's happen to me the first time I manage to fix it then it happen again when I downloaded holiday celabration pack the it said error accrued because I went offline then I quickly pressed play then it didn't load I started getting upset then I tried contacting EA and the sims nothing has worked the all said nothing please could you help me because I love siming this has really upset me.

    @itzcocomora If it doesn't happen when you remove your mods, then it's a mod issue and you need to find the incompatible mod you're using. As you stated it happens by installing mods, that seems to be the case for you


    Custom content can get outdated with patches. If it works when you remove your mods folder, then one or more mods/cc is no longer compatible with the game and you have to find those.

    @crinrict Hii thank you for helping me but it still doesn't work I already removed my mods folder along time ago and it still doesn't work so please could you help because I feel like it will stay like this for a long time (:thanks for your help🙂

    Hi @itzcocomora 

    Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

    You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

    After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

    Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

    The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.
