Seeking help.

am trying to fix my game and have been since July 1st. Every time I try to open the game I can hear the music but get a blue screen. My mouse will freeze as well. I have to ctrl+alt+delete and close out the game through my task manager or completely turn off my laptop to close the game. I have Uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired the game and reset my laptop multiple time trying to fix this issue. I used to play on a USB drive and had no issues. I've tried moving it off the drive, a blank drive and just off my laptop storage and nothing it working.

I've tried troubleshooting and reaching out to EA via the app and email. Nothing yet

I have no mods or game alternating content downloaded.

I hate that I've spent years and 100s of dollars playing this game only for it to be so buggy all the time. And now it's completely unplayable. I would love to hear from someone on how to fix this because a refund wouldn't give me back all the fun and time I've had playing the sims. EA if you really care about your gamers you would help them fox issues when they have them.

  • halleyz16  I've moved your post to the PC tech section for help.  The General Discussion section is for exactly that: chatting about the game, speculating about new content, that kind of thing.

Anyway, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • halleyz16  I apologize for the late reply; I've been away from the forums for a few days.  The immediate issue is likely the same one that affects many players with Surface computers, and the fix is to change the two settings listed in this post from bibliomak:

    Sims 4 Crashing/Freezing/Lag, Surface Pro 3/7 | EA Forums - 11836525

I also want to point out that your computer is very low on free space.  With less than 5 GB free, Windows may struggle to maneuver even when it's not also running a demanding game.  So please clear as much space as you can.  I realize that may be difficult given how small the drive is, but getting to 15 GB or so free could help a lot.

You may need to clear more than 10 GB because Windows may assign some of the freed-up storage to the page file, so make sure to keep an eye on the stats.  You can check by opening a File Explorer window and clicking This PC in the left panel; scroll down a bit if necessary.
