My Sims 4 game won’t open (White Screen)

it's been like this over a month or so. i try to start the game but it only shows the intro and then close to the closing box and then if i maximize it just shows white. can't do anything at all. i have to restart my laptop so it goes away. also repaired the game over and over again and nothing happens . not sure what's causing it. could be the mods, even tho i have them all up to date??? I’ve tried everything and nothing works.

  • @Taite1234  Please do remove your entire Mods folder, at least as a test.  You don't need to save your progress.

If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to your reply.

  • Hi, I had the same. Spent 3 hrs trying everything I could find (installing new graphics drivers, directx, clean saves, repairing, change dpi, the works ;-)). What finally worked for me is turn off my 'multiple monitors' check boxes. Mind, I don't even have multiple monitors.. But somehow it works. Gradually added back save files and mods and it's still working. Finally! Hope this helps someone

Where did you find the multiple monitors button?

@Taite1234  Check under Windows Settings > System > Display, perhaps under Advanced.  I don't have Windows 11 and therefore don't have this setting.  If you can't find it, perhaps @BySpring would be willing to post a screenshot.
