My Sims 4 Keeps Crashing

I went from a laptop to a desktop. Ever since the update and change my game keeps crashing, without warning. I have uninstalled it several times, and I am currently playing with ZERO mods. I assumed I had a bad mod or cc.... even after removing ALL cc and mods, it keeps crashing. I attached a DxDiag... please help.

This did not work. Says it is not recognized as the name of a casket, function, script file, or operable program.

I think it’s the update, I’m having the same issue straight into create a sim, I’ve also tried these methods and they’re not working. Ive spent so much money on the sims4 I just want to play it like I use to

  • MBSims74  What OS are you running?  DISM is a built-in command in Windows 10 and 11 but not in 7.

Regardless, if you still need help, what exactly is happening?  It sounds like you're seeing a crash when you enter CAS, but I'd like to be sure.

If you're getting a crash with no mods or custom content present, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Hey i am having the same problem the game crashes from 5 min to 45m of playing it i have done everything i could do from deleting the game to updating drivers it crashes with mods and with out mods started a new world new clean save with no cc fresh installation of the game after i deleted everything in steam files to document files it did nothing of course.  i played with all the setting in game dx11-dx9 it did nothing i have no problems with any games no crashes on other games my computer is overqualified has no problem running this game to me it seems like the game was working great before the update that hit April 29 2025. the game crashes while i am  in the world just playing it and it crashes in Cas the only time it does not crash is while i am in the main menu and when it does crash it takes me to desktop. Any guidance or ideas would be appreciated.

  • AerionCross  If your computer has a newer Intel K-series processor, try updating your motherboard's BIOS.  There's an issue with high-end Intel CPUs that the board overclocks by default, and a BIOS update fixes the issue some of the time.

If that doesn't help, or you don't know how to look for an update, or you don't have one of these processors (or aren't sure), please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • SimObsessions  You do in fact have an affected processor, so look for a BIOS update for your motherboard.  I can't see which board you have from your dxdiag due to how Asus doesn't list the model number.  But you can see the model printed directly on the board; google "[model number] drivers" and look for the Asus support page to find BIOS versions along with chipset drivers and other software.  Your current BIOS version is 4001.

Your dxdiag also lists a couple of crashes of the Nvidia graphics driver, so if the above doesn't help, remove any overclock you've set for the GPU.  A factory overclock is fine; this is about user-end settings, whether a manual overclock or one through third-party software like the Nvidia App.

If that doesn't help, do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver, as described here:
