Some mod has spoiled your save and I'm afraid it can not be fixed.
It's best to save your family from this game to the library. They don't lose their skills and prizes.
Do the same with their home and start a new game with this family.
The only thing you will have to do is to add money to this family so that they can buy their old home. Use the motherlode code.
