New Alienware laptop GTX 1080 - No Sound

I just got a brand new Alienware 17 R4 laptop with a GTX 1080 graphics card and when I launch the sims 4, there is no sound in game. This is the only game I have encountered any problems with. I'm not sure what to do...I've googled it and tried various things others have posted in posts from years ago but nothing has worked. Any suggestions?

I have confirmed that my drivers are all up to date already.
  • So I did end up figuring it out today, I did a repair of the game files and also apparently there was a new driver for one of the sound devices that I missed.  It even changed the name of it in the list after updating it.  It was probably the sound driver that was the problem, I had only updated the NVIDIA drivers I guess, I thought I had done them all.

Yes I did. Unfortunately, that did not do anything. ☹️

@LoveArielxo  Did you check Dell support? Dell owns Alienware so they should have the latest drivers for download.

Hey i have a new alienware as well, and am having the no sound problem.. what where the drivers that you updated? i went to device manager and updated all sound drivers but it said they where all up to date. I've checked nivida control panel, even the geforce expierence thinking something could be wrong.. but to no avail.. and i have tried the thing as mentioned above of deleting both option and confg files

  • When I get home I will look and tell you exactly, but there were 3 sound drivers. It was not the NVIDIA sound driver. Did you try doing the repair on the sims 4 game? Because I had done those two things and one of them fixed it, I don't know which one. I just assumed it was the driver. Perhaps it was the game repair though.
