I tried on my laptop which has a version of The Sims 4 which is not updated and I thought for a minute that I had to disconnect my internet to go offline but no, they added an offline option in the menu and there is a setting where you can disable automatic updates in the app settings.

Which is good, because I want the option to be able to play the game without having to update it.
