New Update breaks entire game

Hello, I've recently updated the sims 4 4/16/2024 and it broke the entire game. Before you ask, no I have no mods, they aren't even enabled in game. All of my save files were corrupted, and I can't start new save files because a yellow-orange triangles appears on every lot. Whenever I choose "Play new game" It takes me straight to the option of choosing a season, which is normal, but then whenever I get to the world maps there is a sign at the bottom left-hand screen saying, "Move in sim" Which is weird because it didn't make me create a sim and there is no sim in the left hand bottom screen like there usually is when moving in a sim. (Screenshots below). I spent way too much money on this game for it to be broken like this to the point where it's quite literally UNPLAYABLE. Please tell me I'm not the only one this is happening too! Is there a way to fix it?

@RuizalliSims  Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, delete the Content folder inside (this holds SDX data), and try again to disable SDX updates while offline.

Still not working. In offline or online mode any changes I make to the game doesn’t save, so when I tried to disable automatic download, once I entered online mode it was never saved as disabled. I deleted the content folder as well but it did nothing. I still only have the option of ‘resume download’ and a “download stopped” message above it. 🫡

Although this didn't work, I did some more digging and found some other people who went through the same thing in the past. Their solution was to make sure that all antivirus and protection software hasn't blocked TS4x64bit and the ea app. I fixed my controlled folder access for windows defender and malware bytes, and it worked! My game is fixed now. I will add screen shots to show what I did on each software 🙂

Hi im back again and I was able to fix the issue. Are you playing from windows? Or perhaps do you have any antivirus or protection software? For me, I have to manipulate the controlled app and folder access on my antivirus softwares and that fixed the issue right up! I provided screenshots below.

The update on Tuesday caused my system to have this problem for the first time ever. My antivirus is saying the TS4_x64.exe is a virus ( LOL ). I'm hoping the full update tomorrow will fix this issue so I can play again. Mods are off and my blank save game did the same. If not, I'll definitely use this as a fix. Thank you @RuizalliSims !

  • Unfortunately I couldn't any of the listed advice in this thread to work for me. I ended up switching my game over to Steam instead because the EA app is GARBAGE and I'm tired of dealing with it. Everything I had in the game transferred over thankfully, so if others are still running into this SDX problem switching over to Steam should work. But I appreciate everyone's advice! I'm glad others got it to work for them.

  • I'm having the same issue. No mods or CC installed. The other problem is when I move my sim from one house to another and keep all the furnishings, they don't come with me when I move. So I am having to refurnish my new house with furniture all over again. I haven't tried to load any of my older saves for fear of losing all the hard work I've put into them. I really hope they fix this soon, the game is so buggy and unplayable at this rate.

Since steam was brought up, I’ll mention again to anyone reading this who has this issue that I still haven’t had any problems in my game (via steam)

I also wanted to mention to anyone who sees this and is thinking about switching to Steam that you can’t delay game  updates through steam (important for people like me who play with mods). In my experience, the steam servers seem to go down for maintenance and such more often than EAs servers (meaning you can’t play if they do) Not sure if there’s a way to switch back to the EA app either (which you’ll still need to have installed to play through steam)

I will say though that a few of the biggest bugs that have happened in the past few years seem to be a bit less…buggy? Than the EA app alone. Though I do still experience most of the bugs people with the EA app do.

Ugh! EA only cares about money, do they? I've been playing The Sims for a couple of months (About 2) and After an update my game started acting weird like in CAS when I would customize the traits it would turn green and have a big X on the description but I didn't think much of it because my game was still okay but after a few weeks the randomize buttons disappeared and I couldn't add traits, aspirations, names and age. I thought it was weird and I'm glad I know that I'm not the only one suffering from EA's poor decisions.
