newest update 'license invalid' WTF

I got a similar message today. Worked perfectly last night, but now I get the message that my license is missing. Never saw that before, and did not know I needed a license to play a game that already did cost me plenty. I patched my game couple days after the nursery kit release, but today there was another update. I updated and at least was able to start my game, but I still have no idea what was missing or what the update was about... I hate not being in charge over a product that I legally bought.
I also got that update prompt.. But was still same.
I went extreme and upgraded my windows and now i am able to play on the desktop... Currently doing the same rhing to my laptop. Honestly why do i have to go this far to play a game.
But i did read somewhere that dx9 is the problem if not checked in settings in sims 4 menu when u have dx11.
I could be tripping.. But honestly I CBF.. I went the easy way.. Yes i lost all progress but doesnt matter.
Sorry that you lost your progress. My game works so far, fingers and toes crossed.
I did check for dx9 when the big patch was released, because I am on an old computer. It's running dx11.1 but I thought the game was lagging so I chose dx9 anyway, as graphical details is not why I play this game ;)
So did it work after that?
Adding, my problem was not solved, I can no longer play in offline mode thanks to "the game license has expired".
