No Data or Delta folder for EA app!! HELP!!!

I have been playing the sims since it came out and NEVER needed to be concerned with the Data or Delta folders.

So, after about 6/7 years, I’m finally transferring my sims game on my laptop to a gaming computer. I did the typical: go into Documents, Electronics Arts and then copy the Sims 4 folder so that I can paste it into the new EA folder on my new computer. Well, after downloading the EA app and Sims 4 game, I open the Sims 4 folder just to look before deleting it and I see aaaaalll of these folders starting with “EP” and “GP”, etc. I’ve never seen any folders like this before.

Through Google, I learn about the Data and Delta folders and tried to find them on my old laptop because I’m like where the hell have these things been all this time. I finally find them in Program Files (x86)/Origin Games/The Sims 4 on my old laptop.

Mind you, we’ve transitioned from Origin to the EA app and my game has been running just fine. So, now I’m wondering how this happened? Are these files necessary? Is the game still using them even though they’re in the Origin folder? These are important questions for me for troubleshooting in the future.

But my most pressing question, because I want to start playing, is do I just copy everything from the Origin Sims 4 folder and paste it into my new EA Sims 4 folder with my old EA sims 4 folder stuff???

  • @javonne87  You'll always have two Sims 4 folders on your computer, one for the game's program files (wherever you install it) and one for the user data (in Documents > Electronci Arts).  The Data and Delta folders are part of the game's program files, so you wouldn't find them in the user folder.  And you wouldn't want to transfer them anyway since they were recreated when you installed the game on the new computer.

In general, when people talk about transferring files, they're talking about user files like saves and are therefore only referencing data in the user folder.  Here's a description of everything in that folder, in case you're curious:

So it sounds like you don't actually have an issue here.  But please let me know if you run into a problem with the game itself.
