Post-Update Freezing Issues?

Hello all,

Ever since the update my game has been freezing far more often than it ever used to (previously only happened once in a blue moon), with the problem only ever seeming to occur on saving or loading screens, so I end up losing all I've been doing (which right now is some building, so I have to go and restart my build from scratch which is kind of infuriating).

Since there's been an update I'm in a whole new save file (not yet tried any of my other save games) and have updated all my mods and also switched to DX11 as well.  Don't really know what the problem might be, so I thought I'd just ask and see if anyone else has been experiencing this same issue?

Cheers!

  • BearyBry  Please test with no mods or custom content, as in, move the Mods folder to your desktop and delete localthumbcache.package.  Even if you'd never play like this, it's important to find out whether this is the source of the problem.

If you get another freeze with no mods or cc present, please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

puzzlezaddictlast night I deactivated my mods to see if they were causing a conflict and it looks like one of them might be as this morning I could save again as well as upload to the gallery (so yay, finally got my new Foxbury Commons done, lol), so looks like I'll need to go through my mods and CC to see what the issue is (I really wish there was something that flagged the problematic mods for you, so you could just delete or update without having to go through all of them!).

Just after getting my build on the gallery and switching back to another save file (the same one I was having the save issues with) not even ten minutes ago my whole game just crashed, as in it just disappeared from my screen.  So I'm wondering if it might be that save file that's corrupted and causing my issues?

  • BearyBry  Did the crash happen with any mods or custom content installed?  It could be a mods/cc issue, or another save-specific issue, or a system issue.  Please post a dxdiag just in case, and I'll look it over.  And let me know if it happens again, and in what context.

For the mods and cc, this is a good place to start:

I think there are a couple of modders building the kind of tool you're looking for, but my understanding is that they're in beta and not reliable yet, and also that they rely on other modders to cooperate, so they may never be completely accurate.
