Re: [CURRENT ISSUE] Several Issues after incomplete Installation

Hi! I've never done this before, but I'm so desperate... I just bought and downloaded the DLC Life and Death, and i ran the game and it was completely not working. The in game cas is all is all broken with red and white question marks, and the traits and aspirations are not there. When I load a save the world isn't even there and I cant access build mode, I cant click on anything,  and the sims bar at the bottom is not even there. I'm really upset about it because the DLC is expensive, and I was looking forward to finally be able to play with is pack. I completely removed all of my mods and custom content to see if that was the issue but nope its still broken. I'm not sure what to do or who to contact... PLEASE HELP!!

If it broke the game, you might need to try to repair the game from the EA ap or flat out reinstall, then see if the game runs as it should.

quinnproulx15  Try a repair first.  If something happened to your internet connection while it was downloading, it could have not completely installed.  A repair will replace any damaged files it finds.

After the repair, delete the localthumbcache file then start a new game without your mods folder in.  It that works, try your existing save again (without any mods) to see if it clears up there.  If everything is fine, then put your mods folder back in and see if the runs normally.  If the game.  If the game runs fine in the new save and still gives you the problems in your existing save, chances are your existing save may have corrupted, and you'll have to play the new one.

    Hope this helps.

Make sure to always delete the localthumbcache when moving mods folder in or out!

quinnproulx15  You really don't need a vid to learn how to do that.  Just open "The Sims 4" folder and find the file, then delete it.  And as nfsrpfan said, it's a good idea to delete the file when your mods folder changes.  It usually isn't needed when adding something new, but it should be done if you delete things like CC.  The file is where the thumbnails you see in the game are stored and when you take something out, the image will remain in the file.  Deleting it forces the game to regenerate all the thumbnails for the game items and CC again when you start the game the next time without the images of what you removed.  Players have found that deleting it after I find something off in the game will sometimes fix things that you wouldn't otherwise suspect to be linked to it, so it's become a basic step when you are trying to figure out what is causing a problem in the game.

    Hope this helps.
